1981. I pankow sono stati tra i primi gruppi elettronici/industrial provenienti dall’Italia, il membro fondatore maurizio fm fasòlo e gli altri cinque membri della band di quel periodo creavano suoni ispirati a gruppi come Joy Division, TG e i primi Kraftwerk. Dopo vari cambi di formazione e l’arrivo del carismatico cantante/poeta Alex Spalck, il progetto iniziò a farsi notare anche all’estero e una prima apparizione dal vivo a Berlino nel 1983 segnò l’inizio di una lunga e brillante carriera per la band.
1987, Adrian Sherwood produsse il loro primo album ‘Freiheit fur die Sklaven’, un album che conteneva una serie di classici Industrial/EBM come ‘Nice Bottom’, ‘Touch’ o la Prince-Coverversion ‘Boys and Girls’. Ma fu solo con il seguente Maxi-Single ‘Kunst & Wahnsinn/Art & Madness’ che i Pankow ottennero la loro svolta mondiale con il maxi (sempre prodotto da Adrian Sherwood) concesso in licenza in America (Wax Trax), Belgio (KK Records), Germania (Zoth Ommog) e Regno Unito.
1989, il seguente album ‘Gisela’ fu un album TOP HIT in Industrial/Electro su entrambe le sponde dell’oceano ed entrò nelle classifiche sia in Germania che negli Stati Uniti, che vide i Pankow in tournée in 29 città da marzo a maggio 1990. Con oltre 120 concerti solo nel 1990, i Pankow divennero IL live-act industrial di maggior successo nei primi anni ’90.
1991, l’album live ‘Omne Animal Triste Post Coitum’ è un’impressionante testimonianza della loro pura potenza dal vivo. Ci furono solo altri due album (e un certo numero di singoli, tra cui i successi ‘Remember Me’ e ‘My Baby Can…’) con la formazione originale, che includeva fm, Alex Spalck, Paolo Favati e A. Gimignani.
1992, ‘Treue Hunde’ – registrato e prodotto a Londra con Paul Kendall e il Remix-Album ‘Svobody’, che fu il primo album industrial in assoluto ad essere pubblicato anche nell’Europa orientale (Cecoslovacchia 1992).
1996, 24/9/1996 Musica Maxima Magnetica pubblica “pankow” che sarà presto concesso in licenza in Germania a Blank Your Mind
1997, il “presunto” ultimo “segno di vita” dei pankow è stato finalmente l’album “Wodka, Erdbeeren und weitere Katastrophen”, una specie di album “Best of Rarities and never before released demo-tracks”, inclusa l’ultima traccia registrata (allora) (Lili Marleen), prodotta da Roli Mosimann.
2003, Alex ha scritto alcuni testi in aereo, aveva abbastanza tempo da Melbourne a Firenze… l’album “Life is Offensive and Refuses to Apologise” dopo dieci giorni era già pronto! e hanno firmato immediatamente con Minus Habens. La formazione è cambiata di nuovo, fm, Alex Spalck, Enzo Regi e Alessandro Cellai che hanno lasciato la band immediatamente dopo l’uscita dell’album.
2005, fm presenta il box “The Art of Gentle Revolution” contenente i primi 4 album con un libro all’interno, intitolato “The Movie” e il minicd ’69Sixtynine69′ che è stato pubblicato come 12″ all’interno della leggendaria ‘Gisela Marble Box’ nel 1989 in sole 100 copie.
2007, fm vola a Melbourne/Australia per registrare ‘Great Minds Against Themselves Conspire’ con Alex
2008 – 2013, dopo l’uscita fm si trasferisce a Lille (Francia) che non è lontana dal confine con il Belgio e incontra il fiammingo Bram Declercq. Iniziano a lavorare su vecchi classici di Pankow e infine a comporre nuovi brani insieme… Paolo Favati e Alessandro Gimignani si uniscono momentaneamente di nuovo al gruppo iniziando ad esibirsi in Germania, Belgio e nei Paesi Bassi.
A novembre 2012 firmano con l’etichetta tedesca Out of Line pubblicando l’EP ‘Hogre’ seguito dal nuovo album ‘And Shun the Cure They Most Desire’ che uscirà a marzo 2013 in Europa e  su Metropolis per il Nord America.
I pankow iniziano il nuovo anno con un nuovo membro, Cosimo Barberi, cantante/tastierista che ha co-scritto alcune nuove tracce con fm e Alex Spalck e suonato in alcuni spettacoli e festival selezionati , seguiti dalla loro prima apparizione dal vivo al WGT.
2015 – 2017 i pankow volano di nuovo negli Stati Uniti per suonare dal vivo in diversi locali e insieme all’etichetta canadese ArtOfFact pubblicano la loro prima cassetta ‘Throw out Rite’ su vinile/CD e l’ep ‘Times’ con le primissime tracce della band su vinile e il singolo ‘Blockupy’ uscito solo in formato digitale.
2020 – 2022, è il turno dell’EP ‘Der Doctor Schnabel von Rom’ e dell’album ‘Never trust a White Man’ con… fm, Bram Declercq, Enzo Regi, Alessandro Cellai: musica e sintetizzatori, Alex Spalck: musica, testi e voce più gli ospiti… Antonio Bacchiddu: musica e Roberto Toccafondi: chitarra entrambi su ‘Ecocalypse’.

1981. pankow have been the very first electronic/industrial acts coming out from Italy, the founding member maurizio fm fasòlo and his five co-band members at that time created sounds inspired by the likes of Joy Division, TG and early Kraftwerk. After various line-up changeings and the arrival of the charismatic lead-singer and poet Alex Spalck, the project started to become noted also abroad and a first live-appearance in Berlin in 1983 marked the start of a long ongoing and successful career for the band.

2003, Alex wrote some lyrics in the airplane, he had enough time from Melbourne to Florence… the album “Life is Offensive and Refuses to Apologise” was incredibly ready after ten days and they immediately signed with Minus Habens. The line-up changed again, fm, Alex Spalck, Enzo Regi and Alessandro Cellai that left the band immediately upon release of the album.
2005, fm presents the box “The Art of Gentle Revolution” containing the first 4 albums with a massive book inside, entitled “The Movie” and the minicd ’69Sixtynine69′ that was released as a 12″ inside the legendary ‘Gisela Marble Box’ in 1989 in 100 copies only.
2007, fm flies to Melbourne/Australia to record ‘Great Minds Against Themselves Conspire’ with Alex
2008 – 2013, after the release fm moves to Lille (France) that’s not far from the Belgian border and meets the flemish Bram Declercq. They start to work on old pankow classics and finally composing new tracks together … Paolo Favati and Alessandro Gimignani momentarily join again the group starting to perform in Germany, Belgium and in the Netherlands.
In November 2012 they sign with the German label Out of Line releasing the EP ‘Hogre’ followed by the new album ‘And Shun the Cure They Most Desire’ released the 1st of march 2013 in Europe, and in mid march on Metropolis for Northern America. pankow begins the new year with a new member, Cosimo Barberi, singer/keyboard player co-writing some new tracks with fm and Alex Spalck and play selected shows and festivals (Electrostorm, Out of Line Weekender…), followed by their first ever live appearance at WGT.
2015 – 2017 pankow fly again in the U.S. to play live in several venues and together with the canadian label ArtOfFact releases their first cassette ‘Throw out Rite’ on vinyl/CD and the ep ‘Times’ with the very first tracks of the band on vinyl and the single ‘Blockupy’ release only in digital format.
2020 – 2022, it’s the turn of the EP ‘Der Doctor Schnabel von Rom’ and the album ‘Never trust a White Man’ with… fm, Bram Declercq, Enzo Regi, Alessandro Cellai: music and synthesizers, Alex Spalck: music, lyrics and vocals plus the guests… Antonio Bacchiddu: music and Roberto Toccafondi: guitar both on ‘Ecocalypse’.
